Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains what information Manuscript Technomedia LLP ("we", "us") collects when you use Manuscriptchk, how we use it, and the choices you have. Unpublished manuscripts are sensitive by nature, and we've built the Service around that.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and organisation (optional). Your password is stored as an irreversible hash; if you sign in with Google, we store your Google account identifier instead of a password.
- Manuscript content: the file you upload, extracted text, and the AI-generated QC result. The original file and report are stored against your account in encrypted cloud storage (AWS S3) until you delete them or close your account.
- Payment information: processed by Razorpay. We store only the transaction reference, amount, and status — never your card, UPI, or bank account details.
- Usage data: check history, timestamps, and technical data such as IP address, used for security, fraud prevention, and rate-limiting.
- Communications: transactional emails we send you (sign-up codes, payment receipts, completed reports, password resets).
3. How we use your information
- To run your QC check and deliver the report to your dashboard and inbox.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To maintain your account, authenticate you, and show your check history.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
4. AI processing of your manuscript
To generate your QC report, the text of your manuscript is sent to a third-party AI provider (one of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or DeepSeek, depending on which is configured at the time) solely to produce the analysis. We do not use your manuscript to train any AI model, and we select providers whose terms prohibit using API-submitted content for their own model training. That provider processes the content under its own data-processing terms in addition to this policy.
5. Storage and security
- Account and check records are stored in MongoDB Atlas; files are stored in AWS S3.
- All data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS); passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
- Access to production data is limited to systems and personnel who need it to operate the Service.
6. How long we keep your data
Your check history and files are retained indefinitely so you always have access to past reports, unless you delete a specific report from your dashboard or request deletion of your account. Deleting your account removes your personal data and stored files from our active systems (residual copies in routine backups are purged on our normal backup-rotation schedule).
7. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers necessary to run Manuscriptchk:
- Razorpay, to process payments.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS), to store your files.
- The configured AI provider (Anthropic / OpenAI / Google Gemini / DeepSeek), to generate your QC analysis.
- Our email provider, to send transactional email.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law or a valid legal process.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep your sign-in session token, so you stay logged in between visits. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access or download any report and original file from your dashboard's History.
- Delete an individual report from your dashboard.
- Request access to, correction of, or complete deletion of your personal data by writing to us.
- Close your account, which stops all further use of your data other than what we're legally required to retain.
10. Children's privacy
Manuscriptchk is intended for researchers and authors of legal age to enter into a binding agreement, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
11. International use
Manuscriptchk is accessible globally. Your information may be processed on servers located in a different country from where you access the Service, including where our hosting and AI providers operate their infrastructure.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
